It's been just over a month and a half since I last wrote, but we've had a few changes in our lives since then! They've been good changes, and although things are even more crazy than usual at our house, we are all happy.
This summer we made the decision to move to Wrightwood, California, where Jacob grew up. We really had no plans for moving but then we spent July here and things just fell into place. So many things came together and worked out for us, we know this is where we should be right now. After a lot of searching for a house, we were resigned to living in a tiny house and paying a lot of rent-that's just how Wrightwood is. Then Jacob's Dad used some of his MANY connections in this town and found us a great house. It's nice and roomy and we got a great deal on it. We only have a few complaints. First, our house is on the hill. I mean literally, on a hill. There is not much flat ground around us. We drive up a steep driveway, then walk up a bunch of stairs. The upside of that, I guess, is that when you are sitting up in the second story you have an amazing view. Second, we don't have a garage or workshop yet. Well, there is a decent sized shed, but um, well, I guess you just don't realize how much you have until you move. Jacob has too many tools and things. Eventually we will get it to all fit, it's just time consuming getting everything moved here, organized and put together. Anyway, it's taking a while, but we are slowly starting to get things settled in. Hopefully by the end of this week I'll be able to get into our living room. Good thing there are two in this house!
Jacob and I both have new callings at church already. We pulled into town late on a Saturday night and then went to church Sunday morning, before we had even unloaded our truck. Right after Sacrament they asked me to be an Activity Days leader and right after Sunday School they asked Jacob to be 2nd counselor in the elder's quorum. We were sustained the next Sunday. No, they didn't waste any time, did they? I'm sure it has nothing to do with Jacob's dad being in the bishopric....
Makayla started second grade as a Wrightwood Elementary Racoon. So far she likes it quite a bit. Each day she comes home and tells me about all the new kids she met. Her favorite thing about school is recess, because she "has so many of them". She has learned this new game called Tetherball. Apparently it's the coolest game ever.
Kelli and Laney have been my little "helpers" during the day while Jacob is at work and Makayla is at school. I get a box unpacked and put away and before I know it, they have it moved somewhere else. It's a lot of extra work, but they are sure enjoying life here.
All the girls really like being so close to Jacob's family here. One of their favorite things to do is ride bikes at the church. It's great because it's all fenced in, not traffic, and flat. The girls think it's so neat to be driving across town when we pass Grandpa in his truck. It just brightens their day.
