Makayla's Baptism

To Makayla, it seemed like she would never be old enough to get baptized. She's looked forward to being baptized a member of our church since she was really little. It was hard for her to wait until she was 8. One nice thing about moving to this small town was being able to plan the baptism how and when we wanted it. Makayla chose to be baptized on Dec. 11, 2010. Makayla and I both had a lot of fun planning and getting things ready for her big day. Since Makayla was the only one getting baptized at the church on that day, we decided to try something a little different. We made our own movie to play during the time that Makayla and Jacob were changing clothes. The movie was basically just a picture slideshow of Makayla's life from the time she was a baby until she turned 8. There were pictures of her by herself and with family-cousins, grandparents, sisters, etc. Makayla asked her Grandma Anderson to make a dress for her to be baptized in. It was so beautiful, and of course Makayla felt so special in it. We were so excited that so many friends and family members came to share the day with us. Gramma and Papa Werry came all the way from Elsinore and Aaron, Karen, Courtney, and Aubree came from Cedar City. Makayla told me people must really love her a lot to come so far just to watch her get baptized. After Makayla's baptism we had a big family dinner at our house. I think my mom and dad felt a little lost amongst all the Anderson's. Not only were they so very outnumbered, but the Anderson clan can get pretty ummm.....noisy....to say the least. Thank you to everyone who came! Makayla, we are so proud of your decision to become a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints!
