June 30, 2018

Summer is going by soooo fast!  It seems like school just barely got out but summer is almost half over for us.  Where did it go?

This past month has been a lot slower for us.  We haven't had nearly as many things to do and it's been so nice to be able to slow down and take it easy.  Well, things have been easier for me and the girls, but busier for Jacob though.

We got a family pass for the aquatic center.  The girls and I have fun swimming and playing around in the water.  We usually go during the day while Jacob is working.  Kelli, Laney, and I can't keep up with Makayla swimming laps, but we still have fun diving and doing other fun stuff.

In June we went up to Navajo Lake to do some day camping with Martins.  We went hiking up Cascade Falls and remembered that we had done the same hike years ago during a family reunion.  It was fun recreating pictures in some of the same places.  We took the puppies with us and they sure had a good time.  It was fun sitting in the forest and looking out over the lake while we BBQ'd over the fire that night.

One of our favorite things to do in the middle of June is to watch the fireworks for the opening ceremonies for the Utah Summer Games.  Jacob's mom and dad were in town so they came and watched them with us, along with the Martin's.  We happened to run into Scott and Naomi Bond so they sat by us for a coupe hours before the fireworks.  Killing time in the evening on the grass is almost as much fun as watching the awesome fireworks display.  We get to At the end of June most of the Werry cousins and Gramma and Papa came to visit.  It was crowded and crazy, but we had fun spending time with everyone.

Jacob has been super busy lately and has returned back to work mostly full time.  Well, he's at work full time, but doesn't quite cut hair as much as he used to.  He still has some problems with his wrist hurting but he cuts hair as much as he can.  The shop is pretty much all remodeled now and looks so nice!  Jacob goes to physical therapy for his wrist a couple of mornings a week.  They push him a lot there and it has helped him regain a lot of mobility, strength, and flexibility, but it sure makes it hard to cut hair the rest of the day!   Jacob has also been spending tons of time getting things all ready and set up for Scout Camp.  I don't think a lot has been done in our ward for a while so things were pretty unorganized.  Sometimes it seems like such an uphill battle getting things done without much help, but Jacob is really persistent and does a great job.

I've been catching up on all the little projects and things I haven't been able to do around the house but have wanted to do for a long time.  It's been nice to be lazy and spend time reading and doing things for me.  I like having more time doing things with the girls.  I was sort of released from my calling as a personal progress leader for Young Women's.  However, I was called as a Mia Maid Advisor.  Plus, we aren't planning on calling a new person to do personal progress so I'm still going to be doing a lot of personal progress stuff for the next year and a half until the Church comes out with a new program.   I'm glad I still get to be in Young Women's, especially now that Kelli is in there with me!

Makayla, Kelli, and I went to girls camp and had so much fun.  It was my first year actually getting to go to girls camp even though I've been in Young Women's for the past 4 years.  Girls camp is something that is hard to describe to someone else unless you've been there yourself.  We went to a place up Parowan Canyon over by Brianhead and it was so nice.  It was so pretty and we had so much fun!  While we were camping, Laney had her own "mini-camp."  During the day while Jacob worked she went to the Martin's house and got to play and have lots of fun.  When Jacob got off work he would bring her home for the night so she could take care of the puppies.  It was a crazy few days, but she sure enjoyed it.

Makayla spent a few days having band camp.  She will go again in August, but she went a few times in June.   Makayla got to spend several days pet sitting for her friend.  It was fun for her to have some extra responsibility, and since she loves animals, it was right up her alley.   The weekend when all the Werry cousins came was a crazy busy one for Makayla.  She spoke in Sacrament meeting, taught the lesson in Mia Maids, and was set apart as the Mia Maid Secretary.  What a week for everyone to be there!

Kelli had a birthday and is officially in young women's now. Along with that, she has been able to go to the temple and do baptisms twice now.  We went with our ward once (Jacob and I got to go with them) and once Kelli and Makayla went with Gramma, Becky, Steve, and Morgan.  Kelli tried out for a club soccer team and made it- big shocker.  She has been having practices once a week.  It helps give her something to do since she tends to get bored.  Kelli also got her first babysitting gig.  She got to watch our neighbor's three kids.  They said she did a great job and she enjoyed it.

Laney has also had fun this summer.  She was chosen to play on an All-star softball team.  Although she played on a regular team where the girls pitch to each other, the all star team she played on was machine pitch.  It was different for her to get used to, but she had fun playing with some new girls.  I think one of the highlights was that her tournament was the same weekend that everyone came to visit.  She loved having all her cousins and her grandparents come watch her play.  She was hoping for that all season so it was nice that it finally worked out!

Summer is a fun time for us.  We have more fun things planned and hope the rest of summer is even better than how it has been so far!
