Each December they have the coolest parade in Cedar City. It's the Storybook Cavalcade Parade and it's basically a parade with tons of characters from storybooks-everything from disney princesses to superman, to shrek, three little pigs, the incredibles, the old lady who lived in a shoe--tons of different characters. Of course, the girls especially love this because they love to read so they know who most of the characters are. The girls and I braved the cold weather and went to the parade with Jac's mom and some cousins. It was a blast. In the picture with Makayla, notice how close they are laying by a police car. A bit of excitement before the parade started. We were waiting on the corner for the streets to be blocked off. A cop pulls up in the middle of the intersection and gets out of his car. Then all these people start waving their arms at him, honking, and yelling. I guess he thought those people knew him or were just being friendly so he waves back. In the meantime, the girls and I are standing on the corner as the police car is rolling toward us! The people weren't waving, they were trying to tell the guy his car was headed toward the stoplight pole-and lots of people. It was going slow enough we could move out of the way and he was able to get to it and stop it before it got too close to anyone. Needless to say, the cop was a..uh.. a bit embarrassed, shall we say? He ended up just leaving his car where it was, but then he walked across the road and traded places with the cop on that side of the road. Can't say that I blame him!
