I'm the Activity Day Leader in our ward. In February we decided to have a Daddy Daughter Party so the girls could pass off a goal. The girls were supposed to plan the whole night...but we gave them a little direction. Otherwise, you wouldn't recognize the church for all the decorations they were going to put up. The poor Dad's would have had to play all kinds of "tween girly games", but they would have had all kinds of junk food for dessert. Since we have a budget to follow, we had to make compromises....
The girls were supposed to bring a cake so they could decorate it at the party with their Dad's. Although most just kind of went with whatever they could think of, some came with very elaborate plans to follow. Jacob and Makayla had a basic idea, but the frosting was hard to spread and kept ripping up the cake. Regardless of what it looked like, Makayla loved it and it actually tasted really good.
After decorating cakes they played several games. The girls went on one side of the room and the dad's on the other. They each had to draw a picture of their "date" and then eventually had to guess who drew which one. We also did several relay races which included girls wearing big old work boots and running across the floor, dad's putting on tu-tu's and dancing. Makayla and Jacob won the race where they had to dribble a soccer ball through cones, shoot a basket, crawl under a table, hula hoop, and jump rope-they were fast.
It was fun getting to go on the Daddy Daughter Date even though I wasn't one of those!
