After much begging and pleading, we finally decided Kelli and Laney could get their ears pierced. We had decided long ago that before getting the girls' ears pierced they had to ask for it to be done, and they had to be old enough to help take care of their ears. Makayla had hers done several years ago and Kelli and Laney just wanted to get theirs done to. We did kind of make the girls earn it, and kept saying we weren't sure they were old enough just to mess with them and make them think it was more special. Jacob has the guns and earrings so we can just do it ourselves. However, when we did Makayla's ears, we did them one at a time and the first one hurt so it took forever for her to feel brave enough to do the second. Jacob said he had to have help doing the girls so we wouldn't have a repeat of that. I admit, I'm a wimp and wouldn't do it, so we enlisted the help of Jeremy and Chanda. Chanda held the girls so they wouldn't move (and for comfort), Jacob and Jeremy held and shot the piercing guns, and I held and shot the camera.
Kelli went first. We held ice up to her ear for a little bit to numb it. Then Jacob drew spots with markers to show where the holes would be and finally it was time for the holes. I had expected lots of dramatics, but all Kelli said was "Oh!" when she got it done. That's all. No crying. What a tough girl.

Since Kelli's went so well, we repeated everything for Laney's. She was fine and didn't cry or say anything until about a minute after hers were done. Then Makayla asked her if she was ok so she cryed for about 30 seconds. Not a hurt cry, but the dramatic, poor me cry.

The girls were so brave and are now so proud of their pierced ears!
Laney was mad in these pictures because she wanted to try all the earrings on and couldn't quite understand why she couldn't take them out right away.
