March 16, 2018

This week we were able to spend a lot of time together as family.  We also got to visit with several other family members and some friends.  Great week!

We had a short week at school-they had teacher meetings so we didn't have school on Thursday or Friday.  It was wonderful having a few extra days to relax and not do a whole lot-except things we wanted to do.

Makayla has been busy finishing up finals at school.  Only one more quarter and she will be a sophomore!  She has also been doing a fundraiser for Polo-selling oranges.  Everyone who sold them last year told us the oranges are all super juicy and sweet-we sure hope they are.  Thanks to everyone who has helped her out by buying some!  Since we had extra days off of school, Makayla decided to document them-with about a million pictures.  She takes a lot of fun and creative shots-another awesome talent she has.  Makayla has also been working one day a week at the Barbershop doing some cleaning.  It helps Jacob out and she can earn some extra money.  Win/win!

Kelli was able to have a new friend, Amanda, over this week.  They had lots of fun playing games and giggling forever.  Kelli also had finals last week and finished with great grades.  I can't believe she is almost done with 6th grade.  She will be starting soccer again pretty soon.  We can't wait to watch her play.  On Wednesday Kelli, Laney, and I got to go to the monthly 4H dinner.  The girls enjoy going to them because we have yummy food and a fun craft or activity.  I sure like doing stuff with them!

Laney also got to go over to a new friend's house.  I'm so glad my girls are nice to so many people and are good at including others.  It makes my heart happy to see what great people they are becoming.  Laney and I have also been practicing softball.  We've been playing catch and working on fly balls and grounders.  Laney was supposed to have tryouts this week, but it was changed because of the yucky weather.

Jacob continues to work hard at the Barber shop and on the houses.  This week he hired a third barber.  They've been so busy it's been hard to keep up.   He has also been working on training nd trying to get things going in our ward as the Scoutmaster.  He can't always go to all the activities and campouts, but he does what he can.  I think he enjoys getting to be around boys and do the rough things we girls don't like as much.  Jacob also hurt his achillies this week.  He isn't sure what exactly happened, but on Saturday it just started hurting really bad.  He has an appointment for next week but in the meantime he has to take it easy-he can't really put any weight on his foot.

I guess this was a good week to be sick since we had a few days off of school-then I could be lazy and get lots of rest.  I had a sore throat and kept losing my voice.  The past little while I've been going back through all our pictures trying to organize them.  We transfer pictures from our phones and cameras to our computer, but I've been sorting them all by date and events, deleting the bad pictures, etc.  It takes a lot of time, mostly because I start looking at the pictures and lose track of what I'm doing.  I was also able to get us a new couch to put downstairs by the TV.  It's a nice leather one with recliners, that almost matches the ones upstairs.

We spent a lot of time playing with and walking the puppies this week.  It was fun having the extra time so we could let them play and run.  We have a neat trail by our house and the girls finally took time to play on the rope swing.

On Saturday we all went to the park and played softball.  We took turns running the puppies around and hitting the ball.  The weather was nice and it was fun spending a few hours doing something we love.

We also had lots of visitors this week.  Faran and William Young stayed over at our house on their way to California for a Jiu Jitsu Tournament.  They even hand delivered a letter to me from my favorite uncle, Lindsay.  Will and Faran stopped by again on their way back home.  On Sunday my mom and dad stopped by on their way to St. George for vacation.  The girls were so excited to have them stay with us.  It was a quick visit, but we'll take what we can get.  We also had some friends from California, Jim and Karen Young stop in for a while on Sunday then again on Tuesday when Jacob gave Jim a haircut.  We sure enjoy having time to spend with those we love!
