Kelli went to her friend, Tatum's birthday party this week and had so much fun trying something new. They went to an escape room. The girls were in a detective themed room and had to find clues and solve mysteries before they could get out of the room. The people were quite impressed with how quickly the girls were able to do it. Kelli has also spent this week doing creative art stuff. For Christmas she got a nail art kit. There is a flat piece of wood about a foot square and she taped a picture of a cat to it. Then you go all around the outline of the cat hammering in small nails. When that is done, you weave string back and forth and get a cool design out of it. The kit was short on nails so she had to wait to get some from Jacob. Now she can start the string part of it. We can't wait to see how it turns out. Kelli also learned how to do pastels with Jacob. They had so much fun hanging out together trying something new. I think they turned out great!
Laney was finally able to have softball tryouts this week. Of course, we had a blizzard outside when they had them, but at least they had a nice indoor facility they could do it in. It even had turf and a batting cage, so it kind of felt like the real thing. Laney was pretty bummed when she saw the other girls at tryouts. She only knew one girl (who won't be on her team, of course). For softball they divide teams up according to league age. If they turn 11 by September 1st they play in an upper league. Since her birthday is on September 13, she has to play with the younger girls. Last year she was with the older girls and you usually stay in each league for two years and. She was the youngest one, she just didn't realize it because she mostly played with girls in her grade. This year she has to play with mostly 4th graders because of her birthday. I told her sometimes it's nice being the oldest and most experienced. Laney also finished up a big project for school. She was assigned to do a report on the state of Washington. She had tons of different information she had to look up and prepare a written and an oral report. The best part was making a shoebox float. Laney had to show off her state but only had the space of shoebox to do it. It was fun to do, and she ended up doing a fabulous job!
Jacob had his heart broken this week. He was so sad. Jacob has had a 1963 Honda Dream motorcycle that he has been restoring for about 20 years. He finally made the decision to sell it. He really loved it, but he never rode it because he was afraid someone would steal it or that it would break down. After sitting in the garage for so long, he decided to move on. It was so hard for him to actually let it go, but he did it. Now he wants to take the money he made from the bike and buy a trailer for camping so we can make more memories as a family. That bike had a lot of good memories. Jacob also hurt his foot this week. We kind of teased him about it, because it started hurting while he was laying on the couch-just watching TV. It hurt so much he couldn't put any weight on it, couldn't bend it or really straighten it. He was finally able to get in to the doctor on Tuesday. The doctor thought it was gout, but we had to wait for test results. They finally came back and we found out it was something else, they just didn't know what. He has to take steroids for 5 days then if it isn't better he has to get an MRI to look for other possibilities. Not fun. Jacob also had a great time doing pastels with Kelli.
I've still been sick this week. I kind of have a sore throat. Sounds dumb, but I don't have any other symptoms, except I'm super tired (but that's not unusual for me). My throat wouldn't hurt all the tie, mostly just in the mornings and during the night. I had a tickle in it. It was a pain, but I would feel like a dork going to the doctor just to have him tell me I had a sore throat and to deal with it. I've almost finished going through all our pictures. It turned out to be a bigger project than I thought. I downloaded the pictures from my new phone I got in January (over a thousand of them) and it was a mess. On i-phones they have a cool feature where you can take live photos. Not only does it do a regular still photo, but it also records a second and a half before and a second and a half after each shot. This is an awesome feature because you can break those 3 seconds down and change what the still shot is. This is really handy if you have wiggly girls and dogs. Unfortunately, when I put them on my computer, it downloads the still shot and the video. Also, it was showing up as being downloaded, so I did it over again. In the end, I had doubles (and doubles of my doubles). It took forever to sort through. There is probably a setting to change it, but I don't know where it is. I have also been playing around with a photo editing program. It's kind of fun seeing what kinds of things I can do.

Makayla had another water polo tournament last weekend, this time in Kearns. The boys took first place and the girls took second. Makayla's team won the first game 7-4, the second game 7-4, and lost the last game 4-7. What are the odds you always end up with those scores! Makayla had fun playing varsity again this time, though not as a goalie. She was able to share a room with some of her friends and they also rode up north together (it's not a school club so parents have to provide transportation instead of a bus). Makayla had a lot of homework this week- I think teachers are trying to cram as much in as they can before testing in April. Right now her favorite class is PE. For a while, Marching Band was her favorite but that ended in December. Chinese was really fun and easy for her, but lots of kids in her class act up so the teacher has been grumpy lately. Makayla also really enjoys learning about Biology, although she really doesn't like her teacher for that class.
On Sunday we had Ward Conference. It was so awesome! We all came home talking about cool things we learned. It was mostly about reading the Book of Mormon and how much that can help you in your life. We do what we can, but still have a lot of room to improve! We also learned we will be getting a new Stake President in June. The one we have now is an Institute teacher but Church Headquarters just called and asked him if he and his family would move up to Salt Lake so he can help write curriculum. I'm sure he'll be good at it!
