May 6, 2018

This week is much like last week-always on the go!

Jacob is continuing to heal.  His biggest complaints are being exhausted because he can't sleep much as well as boredom.  He is so tired of sitting at home by himself each day and not being able to do a whole lot.  Jacob has been feeling a little better overall and has been able to get out a do a little bit-running errands for work, doing taxes, getting change, etc.  He is really looking forward to his appointment next week so he can hopefully get his cast off!

With all my "spare time" I've started doing some yardwork.  We had our lawn aerated this week.  I'm trying to clear more rocks from the backyard where I want to plant a garden and moving it to low places in the front.  It takes a long time, especially since I have to do it in short stretches here and there.  I really enjoy spending time working in the yard-at least not when I am in a rush.  I'm hoping to have things all ready so I can plant our garden right about Mother's Day.  Hopefully I will be ready by then.

Makayla did it!  She made Wind Ensemble!  She didn't feel like she did her best at tryouts but apparently it was good enough to impress her teacher!  She is so excited to be in that band next year.

Kelli made Advanced Orchestra!  She has several friends that are a grade ahead of her, so now she might have a chance to be in class with them next year.  Kelli got to start going to Young Women's this week.  We had our camp kickoff and since she will be old enough to go this year, she gets to come to camp activities.  I'm so excited to have her in Young Women's with Makayla and me.

Laney got to have a friend over to play on Saturday.  We've been so busy it's been a while since that's happened.  She does get to walk home with her best friend most days, so at least she gets to spend a little out of school time with them!

The girls had a dentist appointment this week.  No cavities!  We love our dentist because he is just awesome anyway, but also because he used to be our Bishop before we moved so it's fun visiting with him.  The dentist always comments on how great and straight Makayla's teeth are.  He is always sure that she has had braces before since they look so good.  He was also very impressed with Kelli and Laney's teeth.  He says normally he really hates when kids get braces as young as the girls because they just can't take care of their teeth.  Then he said that Kelli and Laney have some of the best brace teeth he has ever seen!  Keep it up!

Kelli and Laney also had an ortho appointment.  Laney's visit was pretty easy, but Kelli got a bunch of new brackets put on.  This means she was pretty sore for a few days.  However, the orthodontist said Kelli had the best looking gums of the day so she got a coupon for a free smoothie at Tropical Smoothie.  Since she was so sore the next day, we had to go cash it in.  There is a really cool picture there we also have to get a picture with.  Fun stuff!
