First Day(s) of school

I think everyone has to do a post of the first day of school, so here is ours. Since Makayla is in kindergarten, she has had to wait forever to start school. The rest of the grades started two weeks ago, and it has been torture for Kayla to wait. Today she finally got to go and she was so excited. Doesn't she look so grown up?
Kelli was pretty sad that she wasn't going to get to go to school too, because she wanted to be with Makayla! Because it was the first day of school, Makayla let me take her to school instead of riding the bus and Jacob picked her up. She said she had a great day!
Speaking of school, yesterday was my first day of school. Last week I applied for a few teaching assistant positions, totally thinking I would not get any of them. When I turned in the applications I was told that several certified teachers apply for these positions just to get their foot in the door here (it is VERY hard to get a teaching job in Cedar City). Anyway, I got a job teaching at Fiddler's Elementary in the mornings. The schedule was perfect as I would go to school when Makayla did and get home just after her. Jacob doesn't go to work until 1, so everything worked out because he would be home with Kelli and Laney. Yesterday was great and I had a lot of fun, but then I went to school today and was called to the principal's office. He told me that the little boy I had been hired to work with was moving to Kansas! I had been so excited for this job I was sad I wouldn't get to work it anymore. Then the principal went on to say how bad they felt about me not getting to work there anymore because I was very qualified (though I don't have a teaching degree, I have had a lot of experience working with people with disabilities in previous jobs I've had). They had spent all yesterday afternoon calling all the schools in the district to see if anyone could use my help. As it turns out, I will be transferring to Canyon View High School sometime in the next week or so. I'm excited to do this also, as originally I had hoped to work in the secondary part of education. So for now, back to school!
