This past weekend we got to spend time with some of Jacob's family when they came to town for his nephew's baptism. On Sunday afternoon they came to our house for a BBQ. We had fun visiting with the adults while the girls had a blast with their cousins. Anthony, Alex, and Lexie spent the night at our house which Makayla thought was so cool (well, their parents, Justin and Julie, and their other little girl Alyssa stayed here too, as well as Jac's brother Jonathan, but well, according to the girls, they just aren't as much fun as Anthony, Alex, and Lexie)! The girls were so sad when Monday came and it was time for everyone to go home.
On Sunday Makayla gave a talk in Primary. Jac and I try really hard not to pressure her in any way about speaking in public, even though she is great at it. She spoke in Sacrament Meeting 3 times before she was 5-and that is actual talks, not primary programs. Anyway, if Kayla chooses to say a talk or something in church, then we try to reward her a lot. One of her favorite rewards is being able to stay up as late as she wants. She chose last night to be the night she stayed up late. During the day she was kind of tired so I thought she would be asleep by about 1:00. I wish! Finally at 3 AM I was so tired I told her I had to go to bed but she was welcome to stay awake. I think she would have stayed up longer, but she was kind of afraid to stay up by herself. This morning she was up by 9, and has actually been really good today!
I've decided to officially start potty training Kelli. I think if I had actually tried before now she would be trained, but I'll admit, I've been really lazy. I have been so inconsistent about training her-some days (or even hours) I am good about it but then other times I just remind her she can go in her diaper...I know, I'm confusing her. Plus, we have been gone a lot this spring and summer so that doesn't seem fair to her. I've finally decided to just get going on it even though we will be gone next weekend. Last night I bought some prizes for her and today has been great-keep my fingers crossed! I gave her a shirt with Ariel on it that lights up when it is moved-not that Kelli moves much (whatever!!!). I told her she can wear the shirt today as long as she stays dry-still going! Potty training has been good today, but we'll see how tomorrow goes.
