This year we stayed home for the 4th of July and didn't really make plans except to spend the day together as a family. Things have been so busy for us lately between work, t-ball, friends, and our callings at church (Jacob is ward mission leader and I'm 2nd Counselor in the Relief Society). We started the day out by going to the Parade. Of course, the girls loved it because they got tons of candy and got squirted with squirt guns often to help cool them off. After the parade we went back to our house and played in the water. Jacob and I took turns pushing Makayla and Kelli down the slip and slide and even took a few turns ourselves. We got out lots of water toys for the girls (floaties, balls, goggles) and you would have thought it was Christmas! When we got tired of pushing the girls down the slip and slide, they finally just ran down it themselves (it just wasn't as fast or easy as when we were pushing them!) Laney didn't really want to get wet at first, but as it got hotter she finally gave in. When we got tired of playing we had a BBQ and then relaxed together the rest of the day. That night we did fireworks in front of our house. We didn't do anything spectacular, but we had lots of fun because we were together as a family.
