Home Pre-Schooling

Kelli and Laney have become so close to each other lately. We moved here to California too late to get Kelli into preschool, so I've been "home-preschooling" her as she calls it. She graciously invited Laney to participate with her. Each day we have different little mini lessons and it continually amazes me how much they know! The girls love doing so many different activities with each other. Kelli does a great job of keeping Laney on task. If Laney decides to scribble on her paper, Kelli kindly shows her the way "big girls who want to go to school next year" do it. They always take turns telling stories to each other and ask me to take pictures of them doing school stuff. One of their favorite things to do is act out a scene from a Strawberry Shortcake cartoon we have for their "recess" (We have to have one, because "Makayla does"). Usually Kelli is the prince and Laney is Strawberry Shortcake dressed up like Cinderella. They hold hands and slow dance for a while and then Laney says "It's Firty (30) o'clock, I have to go." She starts to run away, and Kelli holds out her hand to her and says "Wait! Don't go! I don't even know your name!" This is then followed up by tons of giggles. Kelli and Laney came up with this all on their own and it's so dang cute! In the pictures below, the girls are practicing their pretty princess kissy faces. As a side note, this is a prime example of why I don't homeschool. I am not consistent with this. The girls would like to do this all day, every day. But with work and life, we only do it for a few hours a week. Good thing the girls are so smart and learn quickly!
