I realize almost all my posts are about my kids and how cute they are. I can't help it! I just love my girls and being a mom! This post is just about me and Jacob though.
Jacob is in the process of moving the salon and hobby shop to a new location. This will be weird, as he's been in the same shop for almost 9 years! Originally he started doing the hobby shop as a little side job in his down time at the salon. We (ok, I) never expected it to do as well as it has. Now it's gotten to the point where it's just too busy to do both of them at the same time and the hobby shop does even more than the salon. Starting Monday Jacob will only cut hair twice a week and do the hobby shop other days. They will technically be in the same building, though they will be seperated. We're really excited for this move and can't wait to see how things will go. Jacob will also have the room to build an indoor and an outdoor race track (mini one for now) so that will hopefully bring in some money as well. I'm especially excited to see how the salon will turn out. He's painting the walls this really classy peacock color-kind of a blue-green, but not teal. I'll have to post pictures. See, I saw a picture in a magazine of this a while back and have been wanting to paint my room that color but it's pretty bold and I'm a fraidy cat when it comes to that. Now I can see if I like the colors there before we change things here! Jacob's been working hard this week trying to get everything all remodeled and moved. On Sunday he also got sustained as the ward mission leader at church. When he got called as a ward missionary they said as soon as the current mission leader found a job and moved Jacob would take over. This means he once again has meetings almost every Sunday morning (he did get a 1 1/2 year break in the almost 10 years we've been married). Depressingly enough, this also means the end to my sleeping in every other Sunday morning (by sleeping in I mean 8:30 or 9:00). Oh well, I guess it is for a good cause!
I finally did it!!!! For the longest time I've had so many people harrassing me to read the book "Twilight." I am soooo not into fantasy or sci-fi, especially not vampires so I have refused, despite everyone's protests that they don't like that kind of book either but they did like this book. I still didn't want to give in because I'm just stubborn I guess. At work the other day I finished reading a different book and still had half my morning left with nothing left to read. My friend that works with me happened to have a copy of Twilight in her car so she got it for me. Out of sheer boredom I started it. Let's just say, that was Friday and I finished it over the weekend. I take back everything I said about all the dumb Twilight freaks. I actually enjoyed the book, though not to the point where I will be obsessed with it. Today I took the girls to the library and since they happened to have the next book in the series, I went ahead and got it. This week I also plan to rent the movie which I have yet to see.
In other news, I spent last week working out in the yard in our wonderful 70 degree weather. Cedar has this city cleanup thing where you can put garbage from your yard (rocks, dirt, tree branches, etc) in the road and they will pick it up. Our area was the first area for pickup and that was on Monday. I asked Jacob if he would prune our trees for us and I would take the branches out to the road. I was a little startled to come home from work one day to see him standing on a ladder with his chainsaw chopping off branches at an alarming rate. At the time it looked like he cut off more than he left (we have three apple, an apricot, and a plum tree). Upon closer inspection and moving the branches, I realized it wasn't so bad. In his defence, the trees did need a good pruning and he DID do a good job. I don't know why, but I just had this moment of picturing Tim the Toolman Taylor crazily pruning trees with his chainsaw and of course I had to tease Jacob about it. What kind of a wife would I be if I didn't tease him a little?! Anyway, thank you Jacob, you did a wonderful job!
