Kelli and Laney started doing gymnastics again (February 2012). In the fall they started playing soccer so they took a break for a few months.
Kelli goes two days a week and is in Level two. She is quite the pro at climbing the rope. They don't get to do that every time, but when they do it she just scurries up to the top to ring the bell. Her favorite thing to do there is the bars. They don't actually do a whole lot of skills on it yet, they are mostly just working on building strength so they can get up on the bars.
Laney is in Level One and goes once a week. Gymnastics has really helped make her stronger and more confident in herself. She used to trip over her own feet and just looked so awkward when running. Now she actually looks athletic! Laney still isn't able to climb to the top of the rope. I think she has the strength to do it, but she has a big fear of heights. When she first started gymnastics, she would only climb as high as her teacher could reach so she was still kind of standing on their hands. Now she will go several feet higher than that and pulls herself up, rather than walking up her coach's hands. She says the beam is her favorite thing to do.
I enjoy watching the girls practice gymnastics. The time passes quickly and I really like watching them progress. I have to be careful watching Laney though. She often looks at me to see if I'm watching and if she sees me watching then she gets so busy watching me she forgets what she is doing. Now if she is looking around I just watch her out of the corner of my eye and pretend I'm not watching her and she just moves on. Unless she has just accomplished something new, then I have to give her a thumbs up!
