Pink Sox

May 2012

Even though Wrightwood is a small town, we still have our own Little League.  However, for the past several years, not many girls were interested in playing softball.  The girls who wanted to play ended up just playing on the baseball teams with the boys.  In the Spring of 2012, there was finally enough girls interested in playing so we were able to start up fast pitch softball with two teams!

Makayla was the only one old enough to be on the team.  She had played T-ball and Machine Pitch in Utah, but this was her first experience in fast pitch softball.  I'm not sure how, but they talked me into being an assistant coach.  Our team was the Pink Sox-the guys in charge thought it was cute, but our team and the other team (the Purple Sox) hated it!

The most difficult thing was pitching.  None of the girls had ever pitched before, so there were a lot of balls!  Instead of walking, each girl would then get 3 pitches from their coach.  Makayla did awesome!  She was able to get on base almost every time she was up to bat.  Makayla moved around and played almost every position except pitcher and catcher.  Go Pink Sox!
